About C-WAGS

C-WAGS is short for Canine – Work And Games, it is a dog & handler team sport offering titles in both Obedience & Rally, while focusing on the positive relationship between the dog and handler.

Our Story

C-WAGS was founded in 2007 out of my love for training and teamwork with my first dog, Tess, a Sheltie. We loved the fun and connection of training, but once we entered obedience competitions, that joy faded under the stress and silence. Around that time, rally was just beginning to be developed, and I became an advocate and promoter of rally in all forms from that point on. After many years competing in rally, where the atmosphere was more relaxed and I could talk with my dog and give feedback, I realized there was interest in an obedience venue where handlers could interact more naturally with their dogs. With the support, ideas, and suggestions of friends and fellow competitors, C-WAGS was created to focus on teamwork, communication, and keeping the experience fun for both dogs and handlers.

A Unique Approach to Obedience

C-WAGS takes a fresh approach to obedience that encourages natural teamwork and communication between dog and handler. Handlers may talk to their dogs during performances and offer reinforcement at the end of exercises. Classes include new, fun variations across Obedience, Rally, and Games, with flexible exercise orders and low jumps.

Why You’ll Love C-WAGS

Work and Fun Combined

C-WAGS incorporates work and fun in one venue. Work should be enjoyable for both the dog and the handler. This gives participants the opportunity to not only judge how their dogs listen, but how they work together, while having fun.

Teamwork and Trust

C-WAGS focuses on positive reinforcement and teamwork between the handler and the dog. They are the team. The human and dog partnership builds a great bond, helping both grow together while having fun in every event.

Friendly, Fun Events

C-WAGS trials are friendly and fun gatherings where people and families can enjoy the day with their dogs. The positive, relaxed atmosphere makes it a less stressful and more enjoyable sport where everyone feels welcome.

Inclusive for All

Junior Handlers are included in every class, alongside both new and seasoned teams who are equally welcome to find their place. Teams can start at any level in Rally and Games, and even compete in multiple levels at the same event, progressing at their own pace. Obedience and Scent do not require you start at the first level.

Supportive and Compatible

Those training in traditional venues can use C&#8209WAGS to reinforce skills in the ring and sharpen performance for other events. The exercises complement traditional obedience and rally programs while providing a relaxed and engaging way to keep training interesting.

Awards and Achievement

C-WAGS celebrates progress at every level. The Master Team Award honors teams that earn an ACE in three programs: Obedience, Rally, Games, or Scent.
